Week 6: July 19/20: Pen & ink & Charcoal Sketch
🌿 Nature in Black & White: Pen, Ink & Charcoal Sketching (Ages 8+)
Discover the beauty of nature through bold lines and soft shadows! In this expressive sketch art class, students will use pen, ink, and charcoal to explore the textures, shapes, and patterns found in the natural world. From detailed leaves and twisting branches to feathers, rocks, and more—young artists will learn to see nature in a whole new way.
🖤 What we’ll do:
Learn basic techniques in pen hatching, stippling, and contour drawing
Explore charcoal smudging, shading, and contrast
Sketch from real-life natural objects and outdoor observation
Experiment with combining line and shadow for dramatic effect
Create a series of striking black-and-white nature studies
This class encourages close observation, patience, and creativity—all while building foundational drawing skills. Great for nature lovers, quiet thinkers, and budding illustrators.
This workshop will be 2 hours.
